## Here are some examples of questions you can respond to when asked to (for example) “Study a Mentor Text”
(Choose one or more)
- What does the text say to you?
- How do you interpret the author’s message for the reader regarding writing, learning, or life?
- What literary, rhetorical, or poetic techniques do you notice?
- What are the three most useful or compelling ideas in the text related to how might they apply to your own writing?
- Come up with questions of your own, based on thoughts or ideas that occur to you as you read whichever mentor text you chose. [[Marking the Text|annotating as you read]] is a good way to come up with good questions, as is [[making connections]].
