This may as well be considered one of the [[assignments for poetry]] you can choose.
(T1: Communication)
----
Engender curiosity, rediscover astonishment, give yourself permission, surprise yourself.
Nurture your sense of wonder.
Play.
Go out into the world, physically or online, and make poetry exist somewhere it’s not “supposed” to. This is very closely related to [[Found Poetry]]; we could say it’s a variant of that. You’re the hider of the easter eggs this time, instead of the hunter.
The possibilities are endless. You could do something straightforward like leaving a typewritten index card in a café, or something subtle like rearranging the spices in a cabinet to make them spell out a message. (Hopefully the owner of said spice cabinet doesn’t get too mad!) You could line up your Google docs such that the title of each one becomes the line of a poem. You could do something semi-permanent and illegal, like graffiti a train (I DID NOT TELL YOU TO DO THAT. WHO ARE YOU? NO OFFICER, I’VE NEVER SEEN THIS PERSON IN MY LIFE) or something heartbreakingly ephemeral, like writing in the sand on a beach. (Take a picture!)
You could [make a bunch of fortune cookie fortunes](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vo0QBYuU5srEcvW0cCTXB4HsmN0_zSPjQ4XMgnr08HM/edit?usp=drive_link), and tuck them various places around town.
###### In case you didn’t notice, there’s an example embedded in the Pace Chart for our class:
<br>
Sing instead of talking.
Dance instead of walking.
Embed poetry anywhere.
[[Animate the subtext]].
Shapeshift.
Be OK with not knowing something.
Be kind to animals.
Be kind to yourself.
Be kind to each other.
Question an assumption.
Be there for someone, without making a big deal of it.
Say hi to someone instead of looking away.
That thing you always do? Do something else this time.
That thing you want to give up on? Try one more time.
Hold on.
Let go.
Share grief to reduce it.
Share joy to increase it.
