This is one of the possible [[assignments for language]] you can choose.
1. Begin by browsing through the Discussion Boards for our class [[Revision Projects]], websites, social media posts, or emails you’ve received (or written). **Look for errors or irregularities in grammar or usage.** For each one you find, consider how you would correct the error.
Please do not just google “examples of ____ error” and paste in the answers. Find your error examples in real-life, to make this assignment more authentic.
For this assignment, we’re talking about “Standard American English.”[*](x-voodoopad-item://808ba034-3e4f-466e-87a0-f9f25e6020ea#*) What is or isn’t an “error” can vary depending on context, intended audience, etc. This activity is not intended as a judgment of anyone’s writing or speaking; it’s an opportunity to think like an editor. If you disagree with something someone posts in the Discussion Board, engage them but don’t yell at them.
Take a moment to check out some [[examples of grammatical errors]] you may want to look for.

2. For each error you find, make a post in the “Grammar Scavenger Hunt!” Discussion Board topic in class, showing the error and how you would correct it. Find as many as you can or want to! Shall we say, aim for at least three? If you want to get “ADVANCED” on this one, find more unique examples and/or reply to classmates’ posts if you see a different way to correct the error, or think it’s not actually an error (why?), or think it’s an error but not the one the person said it was.
Probably goes without saying, but let’s be civil about it; keep an attitude of curiosity and exploration, and don’t take any of it personally! 😁
